Inheritance Tax Planning
Preserve your wealth and secure your family's legacy.
You have worked hard your entire life to build your wealth; it is only natural to want to pass as much of it as possible to your loved ones rather than HMRC. With Inheritance Tax (IHT) receipts at record highs, proactive planning is more important than ever.
We provide sophisticated, legitimate strategies to mitigate IHT liabilities. By structuring your assets efficiently while you are alive, we ensure you maintain your required standard of living while shielding your legacy from a 40% tax charge.
How We Add Value
- Comprehensive estate calculation and IHT liability forecasting.
- Strategic use of gifting allowances and exemptions.
- Guidance on the use of Trusts to shelter assets while retaining control.
- Investment strategies that qualify for Business Relief (BR), removing them from your estate after just two years.
Our Process
We map your full estate — property, investments, pensions, and gifts — to calculate your current IHT exposure and understand your intentions and timeline for passing wealth to the next generation.
Annual Review Included
Every client receives a structured annual review at no extra cost. We proactively assess your pension and protection position each year and deliver a written report with a clear action plan — so your financial plan stays current as your life evolves.

Common Questions
What is the current Inheritance Tax threshold?
The standard Nil-Rate Band is £325,000 per person. There is also a Residence Nil-Rate Band of up to £175,000 if passing a main residence to direct descendants. Married couples can combine these allowances.
What is the 7-year rule?
If you make a financial gift (that isn't covered by an exemption), you must live for 7 years after making it for it to be completely free of Inheritance Tax. If you die within 7 years, it may still be taxed on a sliding scale.
Can a Trust help avoid IHT?
Yes, certain types of Trusts allow you to move money out of your estate for IHT purposes while still dictating how and when the beneficiaries receive the funds. Trust law is complex and requires careful planning.
Risk Warning: The value of investments and the income from them can go down as well as up. You may get back less than you invest. Tax treatment depends on individual circumstances and is subject to change.
